Yielding to the Authority of the Spirit
Christ desires for us to totally yield ourselves to His Lordship. When this takes place there is wisdom, safety, direction and peace made available to the yielded believer.
I once heard it preached that God placed in the one place we could have all our needs met He place us in Christ.
It is not enough to believe but to yield to the belief held in faith.
You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble!
James 2:19
I think you can believe in your mind or you can believe in your heart. When you believe in your heart it yields to the belief. Rom.10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
We all need wisdom and direction from the Lord but we must not only ask for but yield to the answer.
James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
We need to be child like and receive what the Lord is doing. I do not think it is wrong to ask God what he is doing as long as it comes from a yielded heart. A child may ask where are we going while following, but a teenager may ask where are we going so that they can decide for themselves if they will go. The position of the heart is very different in the two where are we going questions.
John 14:14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
When we ask of the Lord He will give to us and when He does our response should be similar to Mary’s in Luke 1:38. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
